It was Sunday, July 6th and the buzz around Nashville, TN was a Beatle is performing at The Wildhorse Saloon. The Wildhorse is a huge club (or small theatre) which holds approximately 2,000 concert attendees. On this particular night, Ringo Starr entertained the packed house (which sold out in a matter of hours). The best thing about playing the Wildhorse is you get to be up close and personal (especially if you purchase the expensive seats). When Ringo Starr took the stage with his All-Star Band, the crowd went crazy! Several members of his band could pack the place by headling their own concert. Nashville didn’t only get a treat with seeing the former Beatle perform, but each of the musicians had their time in the spotlight as Edgar Winter, Billy Squire, Colin Hay (Men At Work), Hamish Stuart (Average White Band), and Gary Wright performed their huge hits. Before the show started, Beatle Fan Magazine stopped by to talk to Concert Blast. Greg Bissonette (Ringo’s Drummer) also stopped by to talk to Concert Blast, that is until everyone recognized him and went wild with the cameras. Listen to Tom Thompson, Brian Hasbrook, and Tim Baines (Mike Arnold’s substitute, he was on a Mission Trip in Mexico) as they bring the night to you and as they review the concert by going through the Ringo Starr setlist.
A Special THANK YOU to the Wildhorse Saloon and the management of Ringo Starr for allowing us to cover the show!

Our Bonnaroo 2008 coverage continues, as Tom, along with his special guests, Joe and Kelly, bring the day of Satuday to you.
Mike drives down to take over the coverage for Sunday. It's another fun filled show with a lot of live clips and fans.
The big surprise for Saturday was a band called "Against Me" and the huge attendance at Pearl Jam.
Mike's big surprise on Sunday was Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
There were many complaints from the artists and Bonnaroo fans about the performance of Kanye West.
It seems he didn't take the stage until 4:30am.
According to Bonnaroo fans, he didn't apologize. In fact he said to the crowd that the wait will be worth it.
His attitude didn't go over well. In fact during Robert Randolph's set he got the crowd chanting "Kanye Sucks!".
Later Mike spoke to some of the press who covered the Kanye West show and they had plenty to say also.
It's all here... including the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss concert coverage.
Special Thanks go to the Festival staff for choosing us to cover the Festival.
We hope these shows provide the coverage expected!

It was that time of year when people of all ages get in their cars, campers, or take a flight to Nashville, TN and head down to the small Middle TN town of Manchester to attend the largest Music Festival in the country... BONNAROO!
Our show begins with Mike, Brian, and Tom attending the Bonnaroo 2008 Kickoff Party at a club in Nashville, TN (Mercy Lounge).
One of our main reasons for attending this kickoff party is to witness the All-Girl Led Zeppelin tribute band, Lez Zeppelin.
Those girls know how to R-O-C-K!!!
Every Note and every beat of the Zep songs were right on que!
Our show continues as Tom and our guest host, Big Joe (along with his wife, Kelly) begin our on-site Bonnaroo Festival 2008 coverage on Friday.
The highlight of Friday night was Metallica (Joe's favorite). You can definitely hear the excitement in Tom and Joe's voice as they anticipate Metallica taking the stage.

Here we are on our last day of coverage of the CMA Festival 2008.
Last year we covered the Festival in one show, this year it took four (due to all the invitations we received... THANK YOU!).
We had a great time throughout the week, but on Saturday we had many things going on.
For this show, we jammed 15 hours of coverage on Saturday into this 56 minutes and 36 seconds podcast.
We hope you will enjoy this as much as we did covering it.
We started with John Berry's fan club party and went from there.
On this one day we had conversations with John Berry, Sweet Water Jade, Flynnville Train, Stephen Cochran, The Roys, Rick Huckaby, Big Machine Records, The Naked Cowboy, Bo Bice, and CMA Festival Fans.
We covered concerts by John Berry, SweetWater Jade, Flynnville Train, Phil Vassar, Bo Bice, Whiskey Falls, and all the artists at the Stadium Show (Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Rodney Atkins, Little Big Town, Darryl Worley, and others).
We were very tired from the week long activities and it showed on Sunday as we stayed home and collapsed!
Now, We Can't Wait For Next Year!!!
Special Thanks go to the CMA Festival staff for choosing us to be the media format to cover the Festival.
We hope these shows provide the coverage expected!

On Monday, June 2nd, Brian and Mike went to the Hermitage Bowling Lanes to attend our first event of the 2008 CMA Fest.
Last year we covered the CMA Fest for the first time and concentrated on only two events (stadium shows and autograph booths).
This year was a zoo! We tried to cover everything we were invited to attend. Unfortunately we didn't cover it all (due to our day jobs and a thing called sleep),
but we covered enough events to bring to you three shows from the CMA Festival.
Country Music group, Lonestar, supported a St. Judes Hospital benefit with a bowling tournament featuring dozens of country music artists.
The money came from fans who paid for tickets to bowl with (or watch) the country music stars.
There were many media groups there covering the event and interviewing artists. We were very proud to be a major part of the group.
Listen as we have a show consisting of several short interviews of the artists.
Unfortunately not all the artists came into the media room (Trace Adkins, Little Big Town, and others).
However, we did have a great time with those who did attend our interviews... I mean conversations!
Listen and you'll see what I mean.
Special Thanks go to the CMA Festival staff for choosing us to be the media format to cover the Festival.
We hope these shows provide the coverage expected!

On Thursday, May 22nd, the former lead guitarist (and most talented member) for KISS stopped in Nashville, TN to perform at The Wildhorse Saloon.
Ace earned his nickname that night as he showed the audience of more than 1,000 Ace fans that he can still play!
Ace Frehley performed songs from his solo efforts as well as KISS hits and obscure songs.
He even played KISS songs that he didn’t write or sing (“Shout It Out Loud”, “Love Gun”).
Most of the crowd were KISS fans from way back with an audience age from 5 to 55.
If you’re wondering… Yes, his guitar solo in “Shock Me” did have his guitar pickups literally smoking.
Laser lights were also used to enhance his stage show. This is one of our favorite shows we’ve seen in a while.
The band was incredible and the drummer took care of the vocal duties from Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.
THANK YOU Ace for keeping the show clean! Listen as we talk to the fans and review the concert as we go through the entire Ace Frehley setlist.
Special Thanks go to the Mike Davis and Jennifer McKell and the rest of The Wildhorse Saloon staff!
Also thanks to the management of Ace Frehley for allowing Brian to take photos during the show (he was the only one allowed).

On Saturday Night, May 17th, Mike, Brian, Tom, and their special guest Larry Bell (an old friend from Dallas, TX who flew in to visit) were backstage in the Riverview room at the Wildhorse Saloon waiting on the long awaited reunion of the 80’s, 90’s, and now 2000’s, rock band, Warrant.
Jani Lane (Warrant’s singer) and others had re-united for the summer (and hopefully beyond).
Jani told us this original lineup hasn’t played together in 14 years. This night at the Wildhorse Saloon was the first night back together. Concert Blast had a short interview with the guys and was looking forward to the show.
The crowd of enthusiastic Warrant fans were probably the most excited fans we have seen.
Nearly 100 fans paid big money to say hi to the guys, get an autograph, and take a photo (too bad we had technical difficulties while talking to the fans).
Listen to our interview and as we review the concert through each song on the setlist.
Thanks to Mike, Jennifer, Jerry, and others of the Wildhorse Saloon for being so kind to us, for setting up the interview, and for allowing us to be a part of the Wildhorse Concert Experience.

BEALE STREET MUSIC FEST DAY 2 WAS SPONSORED BY
As our stay in Memphis, TN continues, we start the Memphis in May Day 2 with a visit to our sponsor of Day 2 of the Beale Street Music Festival, Charlie Vergos’ Rendezvous Restaurant.
As we arrived, we were given the VIP treatment from John Vergos and Robert Jr.
We were given the food and drink of our choice and learned a little history on the Famous Downtown Bar-B-Que Landmark (3 presidents, a vice president, the Rolling Stones, and more).
After a great meal, we headed over to the music festival. We arrive a little early to go meet up with the John Butler Trio and crew.
Jules (JBT’s tour manager) greeted us with a warm welcome and John Butler himself came off his tour bus to say hi to us (with his new short hair).
Listen as we cover small segments of the festival throughout the night with, Buddy Guy, Simple Plan, Arrested Development, John Butler Trio, Seether, Lou Reed, and Santana.
Special Thanks go out to our sponsor, Rendezvous Restaurant and the Memphis in May Organization for continuing to invite us to the Beale Street Music Festival. Hope to see you all again next year!

For the third consecutive year, Concert Blast was invited and attended the Beale Street Music Festival at Tom Lee Park in Memphis, TN.
The Music Festival is a part of the Memphis In May festivities the city puts on every year.
Memphis in May always starts the month long celebration with the Beale Street Music Festival (always the first weekend in May).
The things you can count on during this festival is… Good Music, Good Food, Lots of People, and of course RAIN!
This year we received the rain on opening night. Not only did it rain, it poured down right in the middle of the night (for the rest of the night).
Although things could have been worse... A tornado hit a small Arkansas town about 20 minutes away that damaged or destroyed 350 homes, left many people injured, and had at least 8 fatalities.
The night started great and ended on a sad note as Brian and Mike searched for a hotel room in West Memphis, AR for nearly 2 hours when they discovered the tornado victims filled most all the hotels there.
We bring you this show as it happened throughout the night. Listen as we cover Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and try to cover Jonny Lang, Keb Mo, and Sheryl Crow.
Special Thanks go out to the Memphis in May Organization for the third straight invitation to the Beale Street Music Festival.

Concert Blast! was invited to be part of the press to cover the 39th Annual Dove Awards at the Grand Old Opry House in Nashville, TN.
The problem… only 2 invitations came and there are usually 4 of us (3 hosts and a helper).
We decided that Mike (because of his Christian Music knowledge) and Brian (because of his camera work) should cover the event.
Mike and Brian really missed the extra help. The coverage could have been much better.
Here's what we got… Brian stayed in the Main Press Room to take pictures while the artists were speaking.
Mike took pictures in the photo pit (where the artists posed) and walked around to talk to the artists (when they weren't completely surrounded with other press).
It was fun to cover so many artists in one night. Some of the artists were very funny (Skillet, Wynonna Judd, T Bone, and others).
This is a different, but very interesting show.
Special Thanks go out to the Dove Awards publicists!

GMA WEEK CONCERT WAS SPONSORED BY
It was a GMA Week Concert Tour Preview at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, TN of the upcoming tour including: THIRD DAY, SWITCHFOOT, and JARS OF CLAY!
Who would think that a venue the size of the Wildhorse Saloon would host such an event… but who's complaining? NO ONE!
This show was packed to the rafters with fans of all three acts and with tons of hits coming through the PA System.
For an added bonus, Brian and Tom begins this podcast with two short interviews.
One from Mac Powell of Third Day and the Other from Chad Butler of Switchfoot.
To sum up the night, all three acts were very talented, but Switchfoot took advantage of their short 50 minute set to throw in as many hits as possible.
Thanks to Jennifer and Jackie for setting up the interviews, GMA Week for putting us on the Media List, and of course the wonderful staff at the Wildhorse Saloon for rolling out the red carpet for us (well not literally!).

On March 16th, we head back home to Nashville, TN as we prepare for the third straight night of concert reviews.
This time we arrive at the Sommet Center to review the Winter Jam Tour 2008.
For those not familiar with this tour, it is a tour of Christian Rock acts for only $10!
The Winter Jam 2008 tour consisted of Mercy Me, Barlow Girl, Skillet, New Song, Mandisa, two speakers, BMX riders, and other acts.
The drawback to this huge show is that there are so many acts, there is not enough time for anyone to perform a full set.
The good thing about it is you get a sample of several acts.
You can then decide if you would like to pursue buying their CDs or attend one of their full-length concerts in the future.
We were already fans of Mercy Me, but we had never seen Skillet and Barlow Girl perform before… but we will again!
Both of these acts opened our eyes to their music.
The hard rock of Skillet grabbed our attention and wouldn't let go and Barlow Girl proved to us they can rock harder than their records are produced.
Listen as we capture the atmosphere of this Music Fest.
Thanks to our Special Guest Helper, Dodie McCloud for meeting us at this concert. Thanks to all the fans who talked to us at the show (it was great to meet you all!). A special Thank You goes out to the Winter Jam Tour Organization for allowing us to come out to review the show.

THE EDDIE MONEY CONCERT REVIEW It was a cool rainy evening on Saturday, March 29th in Nashville, TN. Mike, Brian, and Tom, along with Uncle Joe (Joe Nelms), headed downtown Nashville, TN to be a part of the excitement that Eddie Money will create inside the Wildhorse Saloon. As we were talking with some of the staff at the Wildhorse Saloon, they were thinking, due to the nasty weather, there may not be much of a walkup crowd to purchase tickets… but we were all surprised! The weather didn’t stop the Eddie Money fans from filling the place to the third level. Eddie Money put on a fabulous show, introduced his soulful voiced daughter to the crowd, and gave everyone in attendance their Money’s worth (no pun intended). Listen to the excitement created by the fans (and Concert Blast!) as everyone prepares for The Eddie Money Show. Then listen to our concert review as we take you through each song of the the Eddie Money setlist and describe the show.
We want to say a Special Thank You to Mike Davis and his wonderful staff at The Wildhorse Saloon for all they continue to do for us and the Classic Rock fans who continue to drive in and fly in from all over the country. We appreciate our sponsors for this show, AAA Music City Limousine (also thanks for the ride!) and Demos’ Steak and Spaghetti House (YUM!).

On Friday, March 14th, Mike, Brian, and Tom, along with Uncle Joe (Joe Nelms) and a couple of guests, headed downtown Nashville, TN to be a part of the big crowd at the Wildhorse Saloon.
We've attendend numerous concerts at The Wildhorse, but this was the most crowded we've ever seen.
This Sold-Out show was full of excited Foreigner fans. The show had been Sold Out for over a week and by the enthusiasm in the crowd, these fans were ready for some classic rock.
Although Mick Jones was the only original member of the band, we believe this was the best band Foreigner has ever had.
Listen to the enthusiastic crowd as we get them singing backstage, in the crowd, with the songs coming over the PA, and simply a "ARE YOU READY" contest from the floor before the show.
Then listen to our concert review as we take you through the Foreigner setlist and describe the show.
We want to say a Special Thank You to Mike Davis and his wonderful staff at The Wildhorse Saloon for all they continue to do for us and the Classic Rock fans who continue to drive in and fly in from all over the country.

THE EDDIE MONEY INTERVIEW On Saturday, March 29th, Mike, Brian, and Tom, along with Uncle Joe (Joe Nelms), headed downtown Nashville, TN in style.
That's right, AAA Music City Limousines sponsored our Eddie Money show.
They came to pick us up, took us to the front door of The World Famous Wildhorse Saloon, dropped us off, and when we were ready to leave, they were there waiting for us to take us home.
Joe had never been in a Limousine before and was very excited for the chance to finally stretch out his legs for once (Joe is 6' 6'').
When we got to the Wildhorse Saloon, the Wildhorse staff were setting up the tables and reserving the VIP seats.
When we found our seats at the table, we were very excited to see the reserved sheet, "Reserved for John Waite (Party of 6)" also at our table (John was the singer for The Babys, Bad English, and now solo).
We checked our recording gear as we watched Eddie Money and his band walk through a few songs during the sound check.
Rich Franko of Big 7 Records greeted us and setup the Eddie Money interview after the sound check.
Rich led us backstage to a secluded room to talk to Eddie and his daughter, Jesse (who sings backup and lead on a couple of songs).
They were both very friendly and open to discuss anything we wanted to talk about.
We want to say a Special Thank You to Mike Davis and his wonderful staff at The Wildhorse Saloon for all they continue to do for us.
We also want to thank AAA Music City Limousines for sponsoring this show and for the great ride!

THE NEWSBOYS CONCERT REVIEW On Saturday, March 15th, Mike, Brian, and Tom loaded up the car and headed West on I-40. We made our first trip to Little Rock, Arkansas to review a show.
We were very excited to make this trip because its been a while since we left town to cover a show... And What A Show!
Mike has been a Newsboys fan since 1995, Tom has been a fan of their for about 5 years, and Brian jumped on the bandwagon back in November when he seen them live for the first time.
For the secular rock and rollers, The Newsboys have been around since the early 90s. They are top notch musicians and know how to put on a live show better than most secular artists.
The Newsboys are originally from Australia and perform Christian Rock Music.
If you are not familiar with them, give this show a listen and let us know what you think by email ( concertblast @ gmail.com ).
The fans were into the show from the beginning of our show, as we had fun with the crowd before they hit the stage.
We want to say a Special Thank You to the Wyndham Hotel in Little Rock for a great stay and Benihana Japanese Rstaurant for the wonderful food!
We also want to thank the Management of The Newsboys for a great night of Rock and Roll fun and Worship... And a very exciting show!

Friday, March 7th, was a cold and snowy night in Nashville, TN.
The roads were icing over and the temps were dropping by the hour… Unless you were inside The Wildhorse Saloon!
Bret Michaels (lead singer for Poison) was in town heating up the place.
It was another sold-out show at The Wildhorse and the fans there were ready to rock.
Fans came in from many surrounding states and no one cared about getting stuck downtown with the icy road conditions.
They had one thing on their minds… Let's Rock! On this night the fans were more enthusiastic than any other show we've attended.
Once you listen to our podcast, you will agree. Bret and the band (led by Pete Evick) were ready to give the fans their best.
The neat thing about this show is, the Bret Michaels Band went to the merchandise booth to sell, sign autographs, take pictures, and to say hi to all the fans.
If you like Poison, you will love this show. Special Thanks to the staff at the Wildhorse Saloon for making our night fun and our show exciting!

On February 15th and 16th, the long awaited return of Rick Springfield to Nashville, TN happened at The World Famous, Wildhorse Saloon (or as Mark Slaughter said, ”The Best Place To See Shows!”).
The Rick Springfield die hard fans came in from all over to be a part of his concert experience.
We met people from Canada, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, as well as various parts of Tennessee.
We have never seen fans from so many places for one show.
If you have never seen Rick Springfield in concert lately, you will be very surprised!
The music is much louder and harder than it was produced on the records from back in the 80s and Rick definitely knows how to control a crowd and play the guitar!
We hope we have captured the excitement of the fans and the energy of the Rick Springfield concert experience.
A Very Special Thank You Goes Out To The Staff of The Wildhorse Saloon For The Great Welcome Back! Also Special Thanks to James Downing for contributing some of the Photos Below.

Last week Mike, Brian, and Tom met to record something they’ve never done before… A Valentines Day Special podcast.
This is something that the guys came up with for a Music Discussion.
In this show, Mike was trying to make it soft and sweet, Tom kept sticking his foot in his mouth from his comments, and Brian was getting sick from the sweetness of the show.
As he put it, “Guys, we are getting maple syrupy sweet here… Take me to the Car Crashes and Motorcycles Right Now!”
They did have a good time recording this show.
In fact, they came up with over 100 songs to choose from in various categories.
The songs were selected by the guys voting for their favorite choices with Mike’s wife, Sandra, selecting the tie breakers.
During the recording of the section of the Romantic Songs, Sandra mentioned, “This is too sweet for me and I’m a Female!”
