On Saturday, June 26th, Concert Blast hosts, Mike Arnold, Brian Hasbrook, and James Downing traveled to Elizabethtown, KY for the Grand Funk Railroad / The Guess Who concert and took time to interview Bruce Kulick (Grand Funk Railroad-KISS-ESP-solo), Garry Peterson (The Guess Who), and Kenny Lewis (auctioneer-councilman-concert promoter).
Mike, Brian, and James met Kenny Lewis, the auctioneer/councilman who helped put Classic Rock on the stage at Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown, KY, during the sound checks and setup. Kenny is very funny and a trivia master of rock music hits from the 1970s, but he couldn’t stump us! We discussed his auctioneer skills, radio talk skills, the Freeman Lake Park concert series, his run for councilman, the concert for the night (Grand Funk Railroad – The Guess Who), and Elizabethtown, KY.
Garry Peterson, one of the original members and drummer for the Guess Who, met with Mike, Brian, and James after the Guess Who sound check in a trailer which provided the backstage/green room area for the band.
Garry discussed topics such as where the name “The Guess Who” came from, their first hit, playing gigs, Lenny Kravitz’s version of “American Woman,” issues with the original band members, musical influences, musical youth rebellion, collaborating with other artists, living in the south, surgeries, crazy concert experiences, and thankfulness.
Bruce Kulick took some time out to meet with Mike, Brian, and James before he took the stage with Grand Funk Railroad as they headlined the concert for the night.
