Styx is currently taking the country by storm with their Grand Illusion – Pieces of Eight Tour.
Styx’s Singer/Keyboardist, Lawrence Gowan took some time from the road to call in to Concert Blast to discuss the tour and many other topics with Mike Arnold.
It was Friday, October 8th 2010 when Jason and the Scorchers made their long awaited return to Nashville, TN to play The Mercy Lounge. Before the band’s sound check, Mike, Brian, and James met with Jason Ringenberg and Warner Hodges for a short interview as they traveled down memory lane.
The show started about 9:40pm with Brian on one side of the stage, James on the other side of the stage and Mike in the middle. Brian and James had their cameras ready while Mike was ready with his mic to record any special live audio clips for the podcast (and there were several).
It was a hot September Thursday night in Nashville, TN, but inside the Wildhorse Saloon it was much hotter! 80′s Rockers, Cinderella took the stage and cranked up the Rock and Roll heat in the Sold-Out venue.

It was a Rowdy Friday night in Nashville, TN at the Bridgestone Arena. Hank Williams Jr. led the charge as Jamey Johnson, Eric Church, and The Grascals followed. The crowd at the arena was full of energy and ready for fun.
The Grascals
The Grascals performed a free concert outside on the plaza for the attendees before the doors opened. The Grascals were well received on the outside as well as on the inside of the arena as they opened the show. After their set they took time to have a short conversation with Mike Arnold and Brian Hasbrook who were there covering the show. Mike and Brian missed Eric Church’s performance due to the backstage visit, but they had such a good time it was worth it.

Here’s a Concert Blast interview with Lawrence Gowan of Styx that Mike Arnold conducted in November, 2009. Many Styx fans continue to ask about Dennis DeYoung, not knowing that Dennis hadn’t been in the band for over 10 years. Canada’s Lawrence Gowan has stepped in and has done an excellent job!
On November 15 2009, the Can’t Stop Rocking Tour made its stop in Nashville, TN. Mike Arnold had been communicating with Styx’s publicists and management about a possible interview with their keyboardist/lead singer, Lawrence Gowan. On the day of the show, their schedule became much tighter as Styx was invited to sing the National Anthem before the Tennessee Titans football game. Since they were under such time restraints, Mike and Lawrence decided to conduct their interview through email.
For those who aren’t familiar with the rocker, enjoying learning a little about Lawrence.
Mike Arnold of Concert Blast received a phone call on his cell phone. He didn’t recognize the number that displayed on his phone. The voice on the other end was none other than the lead singer of REO Speedwagon, Kevin Cronin. Kevin asked Mike if he would like to interview the band that night before their Wildhorse Saloon Concert. Of course Mike agreed and before the night was over, Brian, Tom, and Mike spoke to the whole band backstage.
