Aerosmith In Concert - Steven Tyler and Joe Perry - Photo From www.Aerosmith.com
Aerosmith returned to Nashville, TN to thrill classic rock audiences once again. Aerosmith has been a tour regular to Nashville, but it has been a while since the “Bad Boys From Boston” had performed in the Music City. While Mike Arnold and Brian Hasbrook were out of town, our guest blogger friend Josh Jackson, took it on himself to fill in for us (Thanks Josh!). Enjoy Josh Jackson’s Aerosmith Concert Review from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on 12/13/2012.

It was Friday, April 27th, 2012 when the long awaited return of Van Halen landed in the Music City. Thousands of Van Halen fans were looking forward to this event and many of them asked us if Concert Blast were going to cover this event. Several of the fans in attandance even were emailing and texting us wanting to know where we were. Unfortuantely the Van Halen management did not approve us for concert review tickets (although their publicist tried). They did approve our photo pass, but our photographers didn’t want to take photos from the sound board (too hard to shoot over the crowd) for three songs and be escorted out the door… HOWEVER, our good friend Josh Jackson was there and surprised us with a written review. Enjoy the Review!

I have always said what an incredibly hard job it is to produce a show like the Grammys that tries to cover all the bases of what is out there in popular music today While the 54th Grammys was a very “classic” leaning show, there were lots of styles and variations included that gave it a well-rounded feel, almost to a fault – but more on that later. Really, it all comes down to this. When you open a show with “The Boss,” Bruce Springsteen, and end it with Paul McCartney, does anything else in the middle matter much?

On Thursday October 13th, I had the pleasure of working the 10th Annual Americana Music Awards at the Ryman Auditorium. For those not up to speed, ‘Americana’ is defined as ‘materials relating to American history, folklore, geography or considered to be typical of American culture.’ Musically speaking it has typically meant ‘folk’ music, but in recent years has broadened to include forms of country, rock, blues & even jazz. The Americana Music Association has really taken strides to promote and encourage the genre nationwide and the popularity of their annual awards was evident by a sold out Ryman Auditorium.

I love music – particularly live music. So much so that I would go see just about any band, of any genre, if given the opportunity. So, when my wife’s cousin and journalism student at Lipscomb University, Cory Woodroof, invited me to this weekend’s 3 Doors Down concert at The Woods at Fontanel – I jumped at the chance.

For the second year in a row I was invited to work as the script supervisor for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions and of course, I obliged. I always love hearing my friends tell me to make sure to tell someone to induct __________ (insert favorite rock group) into the Hall. (Usually KISS or RUSH) I’m not sure exactly how the nominations go about, and while I have my own feelings about some of the great groups that have been left out (Eagles, Heart, Journey & oh so many more), I was fairly satisfied with this years group of inductees.

In January of 1959, entrepreneur Berry Gordy borrowed $800 and began the independent record label, Motown. The rest, as they say, is history.
On the heels of the 50 year anniversary of Motown, the producers of the PBS television series, ‘In Performance At The White House,’ thought it would be a great idea to pay tribute to ‘The Motown Sound’ – and I couldn’t have agreed more.

Each year the Grammy Awards are one of the most watched, most loved AND most hated television programs of the year. For those who only like one type of music it can be frustrating to watch and walking the line to makes sure several formats get represented in the performances and awards is always a daunting task for the producers. This was my third year behind the scenes of the show and as I always like to do, here are my notes on this year’s show.

While the concert-touring season has slowed down for the winter, I thought it would be nice to show our listening audiences what we went through in 2010. I created multiple videos of our experiences with a month by month journey of our adventures.
Here’s Part 6, the final chapter of our 2010 Concert Blast Posts. This video takes you through our experiences of October through December.

For the last 14 years, the CMA Awards have consistently been one of my favorite projects to be a part of. I can only think of one show (the Grammys) that brings together the amount of talent and diversity that this one does. Each year brings it’s own set of interesting performances and results, and this year was no different. So, let’s get right to it!
