The second night of the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival coverage for our podcast begins with recordings from the establishment who sponsored day two of the festival, Rendezvous in downtown Memphis (our favorite place to eat Bar-B-Que Ribs).
Rendezvous - Memphis, TN
The guys start the day by interviewing fans of the music festival and having a fun conversation with Percy, an employee of Rendezvous for 40 years. Percy takes us down memory lane as he discussed the former Presidents and many stars who have attended the restaurant.
They ate a wonderful meal before heading to the Beale Street Music Festival while to enjoy the various genres of music from Colbie Caillat, Jerry Lee Lewis, Seether, Michael McDonald, along with Hall and Oates. Continue Reading…

It was the first weekend in May and on Friday night April 30th 2010 Mike, Brian, Tom, with special helper Steve traveled to Memphis, TN to cover the Beale Street Music Festival during the Memphis In May festivities.
Brian Hasbrook with Concert Blast Fans From Atlanta
The guys were pleased to be back together covering one of their favorite concert festivals. It seems to rain at least one day every year of the festival, but the skies were clear during most of the festival times, although there were many storms before and after. One exception was when tornado warnings came through Memphis on Saturday night and the headliners could not perform (more on this during Saturday’s coverage – Part 2). On this podcast we cover only the Friday night events.
B52s - Beale Street Music Festival
The B52s performed their fun-time dance party-rock that kicked off the fun times at their stage. Afterwards the stage headliner, Goo Goo Dolls, performed a full set with all their hits, several new tunes, and an encore of Supertramp’s “Give A Little Bit.”

Spring is in the air and it’s the month of May! For the last 4 years, Concert Blast has taken the road trip to Memphis, TN to report on the Beale Street Music Festival as part of the city’s Memphis In May festivities. Below is a report from Tom Thompson on the Friday night excitement as he and a couple of his friends enjoyed the festivities. Although the Music Festival continues during the rain, unfortunately the guys were rained out for the Saturday and Sunday shows.
Starting off we would like to thank our friends with Memphis in May for their hospitality. As it turned out, Friday was forecasted for rains all evening. Arriving at the festival we encountered just some overcast skies but otherwise a beautiful Memphis evening.
